The customer's issue
The client is facility manager of an educational institution. The educational institution has an outdated intrusion detection system. The requirement from the insurance company is that this system is certified according to the guidelines belonging to educational institutions.
There are a large number of laptops and tablets in use by the students. There are also digiboards and the school has its own cafeteria with a restaurant. Contact payments are also still made here, so a small cash fund is stored daily in a safe.
The solution
The advisor from SME Secure set up an appointment with the facility manager. During this consultation, all of the client's questions were answered and the requirements were gone through. The current intrusion system is outdated, the components are "end of life" and no longer on the market.
However, the current components were replaced a number of years ago, including the wiring according to the installation guidelines.
Our consultant determined whether the replaced components were approved, allowing them to be reused in the installation of the new system. Ultimately, the recommendation was to replace the intrusion control panel, control panel and associated expansion modules. There are still some detection points that need to be installed. However, this saves the educational institution a huge investment.
The cash is already stored in an approved safe; we have included this in the security plan under organizational measures. Every day the cash has to be stored in the safe. Also, the room where the safe is located is equipped with an approved room detector.
After being commissioned, MKB Secure ensured that the installation of the intrusion detection system was carried out completely according to the guidelines. All reused components were tested and rekeyed with a zone number. Upon delivery, we provided all delivery documents such as the security plan, intake form and quality document (certificate)
After installation, we also provide annual maintenance and troubleshooting should they occur.
