MKB Secure's first blog is special, in my opinion, and reflects the daily risk a business owner faces when dealing with crime.
Last week a restaurant with a social character in Lelystad was broken into. Now a break-in in itself is serious; after all, a break-in is a terrible event for any business owner.
Similarly here, it affects the owner and her colleagues. Actually, they initially react with the feeling of dejection, are disappointed, sad, angry and would prefer to go home. A reaction we all experience after a burglary. A very normal reaction because your confidence has been damaged, your familiar surroundings have been affected and precious or valuable items have been taken away.
As I read through the message further, it came out that they went to work anyway. An incredibly brave decision. And the day is actually going very well, they worked hard to make the visitors to the restaurant welcoming and good again. To enjoy lunch, pastries or a delicious coffee.
It is precisely this courage that appeals to me. An entrepreneur must also just have the chance to persevere. Often, after a burglary, there is such damage to trust that the business owner must decide to postpone his work. To recover from the event or take care of various things. Such as buying new items, informing the insurance company, filing the report and maybe even having to wait for the trace investigation to be completed. Not to mention, all the work that remains to be done. This can lead to a huge loss and expense, perhaps even the loss of important clients.
Besides, you're human, you come home and want to relax. But is that still possible after experiencing a burglary? Often sleepless nights follow and you are thinking about who caused this and whether the person will return? Especially the latter often causes concern.
I myself became interested in security by having experienced precisely the above. In this case, I experienced the courage to move on as something very beautiful. I recognize like no other the feeling that remains with all the employees of this restaurant.
After reading the article, I immediately contacted our supplier and an independent technician. We then discussed the possibilities and, on behalf of our partners, I was able to offer the owner of this establishment a professional intrusion detection system free of charge.
I am very proud that I was able to offer this on behalf of our partners and hope to have made the world a little safer and more pleasant. But also that in this way we have given the employees and the owner of this restaurant a little better night's sleep.
Of course, as a business owner, you should avoid this risk as much as possible. Obviously, a burglar detection system or other security system should have already been in here. We are all human; we learn every day.
Thanks for the interest in my first blog.
I wish you a very happy and above all carefree day!
Greetings Matthijs
